The Challenge
To help secure the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games for the city of PyeongChang, Korea; advising on the design and implementation of the media campaign, Bid messages and narrative.
The Outcome
On 6th July 2011, PyeongChang was voted the host city for the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games with an overwhelming majority of the votes in the first round.

VERO’s Role
- Strategic counsel and advice on all campaign elements
- Devise PyeongChang 2018 key messages and campaign narratives working closely with the wider Bid team and Bid Leadership
- Global communications plan development from Applicant City phase until the Host City election in July 2011
- Co-ordinate all international media relations and activities
- Develop proactive and creative communications
- Support presentation and script development
- Media training Bid leadership, athletes and ambassadors
- Onsite support at key Olympic Family events, including international presentations, IOC Evaluation Visit and the IOC Session in Durban
- Advising Bid team on advertising campaign strategy and implementation
