Securing Sport 2013

The Challenge

  • Position ICSS’s flagship conference, Securing Sport, as the leading event for international sport security and integrity professionals and media
  • Drive international media attention in the lead up to and during the event
  • Deliver an effective media operations plan for 100-120 international and Middle East journalists

The Outcome

  • 192 pieces of coverage generated by international media following the 2012 conference
    244 pieces generated following the 2013 event – a 27% increase from 2012
  • Both events received significant attention from international media including features in The Times, Associated Press, Gazzetta Dello Sport, Sky, O Globo, ESPN and Marca

VERO’s Role

  • Secured the attendance of leading international journalists including Associated Press, Sky Sports, The Times, Gazzetta Dello Sport, O Globo, Daily Telegraph, Around The Rings and Inside World Football
  • Advised the ICSS and managed all media operations, including media facilities, media flow, mixed zone, location of live studios and dedicated ‘media-friendly’ areas within main hall
  • Recommended and negotiated media partnerships with key titles. 2013 partners included Sport Business, SportsPro and Doha Stadium Plus
  • Created a targeted advertising plan, including key security and sport business titles
    Advised on content of mailings to partner databases and advertising
  • Worked with ICSS team to develop engaging event collateral, including drafting material for event guide and media welcome packs
  • Provided recommendations on potential speakers in line with current news agenda
